Day off for Aaron! First time in a long while that Good Friday wasn't a work day.
He still makes me laugh.
Bed head.
Leon's really into soccer lately...we went over to the field at Steele Creek to knock around a bit.
Silas got all tuckered out. I think we had a rough night too.
He let me take pics of his wounds after nap.
This happened a few weeks ago...he dropped a rather large rock right on his big toe. We didn't realize how bad it was until later in the week when the bruise darkened and started to show. Oww. He's been a little trooper about it.
Then Polly and Israel showed up and we started making some dessert for our dinner party tonight.
You start with a meringue.
Spread it to shape and bake.
This is a custardy-type topping, with lots of lemon zest. The yolks were SO orange!
Baked and cooling.
We took a break from Rock Band to come have refreshments.
Then some whipped cream with a bit of almond and rum, topped with a bunch of berries.
So pretty! It's an Australian dessert called a pavlova and it practically melted in our mouths. Amazing. Polly, do you have the recipe link anywhere? I think it was about 6 egg whites to a cup of sugar, and next time we'll reduce that. Go ahead and google image it, I dare you. Bet you'll make one within the week.
Good enough for breakfast the next day. Is it ok to eat dessert for breakfast if it's a holiday?
