White Top Camping?

Well, we've had the camping itch for quite a while. Finally planned and made it happen.

A clear night was forecasted and balmy weather called for a trip to White Top. A lovely retreat from the beastly heat here in town.

Aaron bought the cutest little chairs for the boys...they were thrilled. Set up camp, tent, beds.

Packed up chairs and took them everywhere.

Built a fire, cooked and ate some supper.

No sooner did it start to get dark and the boys to roast marshmallows than Aaron got a severe thunderstorm warning on his phone, winds up to 70 mph. Humph. Packed up a bit, got in the car as the winds started roaring through the trees and a few drops started coming down.

Altitude: 53000

Ok, we were scared. We threw everything in the car and drove home. The road was littered with branches and a tree blocked half at one point. I think it blew through pretty quickly...but if we stayed no grown-up was going to be able to sleep.

Bye, White Top. See you next time. Not sure I'm ever gonna sleep on top of you though.

That sounded weird.
