Dream Fulfilled

For the longest time I have had this dream. No, not a reoccurring dream whilst I am in repose, but a desire.

I have always wanted to have a table somewhere to sell things I have made.

But it never happened. I could never sew enough stuff, or figure out what to make that would sell.

Until now. I actually did it. I pulled this together in less than 3 weeks. The Mossery.

Didn't Aaron make a fabulous sign for me? This was for the Garden Faire at Exchange Place this past weekend, in Kingsport on a historic farm.

Everything was a bit foggy first thing in the morning, but I cleaned them and they cleared up a bit.

I also made these fun little flower vases out of some bulbs that were tinged purple? I think they turned out cutely, and all 3 sold.

Everyone liked the large jar. I had a hefty price on it, but have since decided that I won't sell it at all. It will be my showpiece, and I'll see how long I can keep it going.

I also had some chicken feather hair pieces for sale - bands and clips. They seemed to go over well. And a huge thanks to Polly and Abigail for their crafting powers with these.

Lightbulb terras. These were very hard to put together. Let's just say that lots of patience and chopsticks were key. Two were messed up during the weekend show, one by a boy, who I thought was being supervised, who walked up to the table, picked it up, and shook it to pieces. The other happened without me noticing, by people picking it up and twisting it around. So notes for next time: keep them right in front of me. No touching unless you're buying. =-)

I sold these canisters for around $15. I really didn't have many left at the end of the day. I gave a couple to friends, and just have a few here at home. That worked out well, I had nightmares of having to bring home and care for 20+ terras!

Paint chip banner. Next time I'm sewing them in round punched out shapes, where the paint chip part won't show. I had several comments from folks.

Here is the big 3? gallon jar that Polly spotted outside a local antique shop. A steal for $15.

"Cheese."

These mushrooms I carved out of discarded wine corks.

Here is a hanging bulb vase I designed after the show. I will have to figure out how to display them for the Fall show.

All in all it turned out well. I wish I had taken pics the first day, and of individual pieces. My favoritest one sold first, and I didn't have a pic of it at all. Boo.

A huge thanks to my mom, who patiently helped watched the kids while I put these together. Also to Megan and Erek who helped set up, pack terras, and even man the booth without snitching some of my stash. *grin* The weekend went very well. So well, I'm going to do it again and see how they go.

The only downside is I get awfully tired of making terras, lol. That's ok.

Save me your old incandescent lightbulbs! They are fast disappearing.

Here is my splurge for the weekend, with some of the proceeds. This amazing lady makes these hooked wool rugs/wall hangings. They are really great. I have been wanting one for several years after seeing several at a friend's house.

I went through every rug she had, and found two I really liked. Decided on this one and had to go run across the road to get the money. Came back, and a man told me he bought my bird rug! But he didn't, she had saved it for me, and he was going to get it if I didn't. Whew. I'll come back and post her name when I find the card. She'll be at the festival in Sept. at Exchange Place.

Color is off in these detail pics.

Isn't it lovely?

Easters

Our traditional Easter consists of lunch and family pictures at the Hill Family house, Moneta Circle. (Aaron's folkses)  Polly came over from Asheville, and so we had some fun crafting time too.

Egg Hunt!

Lovin' that candy. Momma's not thrilled about that for breakfast. Mental note for next year, lol.

Purty visitor.

There it is!

Got it.

Awwah.

Uncle Aaron with no beard.

These boys...there's no choosing when they'll let you take a good pic.

Like the old days...b.c.
